Whether you’re buying or selling a caravan where should you be looking to make that transaction? Should it be an online website like auto trader or should you be looking in a caravan trader magazine?
It might not be as easy as buying a car but that doesn’t mean it should be too difficult, so we’re here to give your caravan finding journey a bit of a head start with a list of ideas and sources.
Caravan Trade Magazines
Local caravan traders magazines can also be useful, but there’s less of them about these days, mainly due to printed magazines taking a hit over more digital and online versions of their classifieds ads sections.
Caravan Trading Websites
Online caravan trade websites are a more popular choice these days and you can look at the usual Auto-Trader type websites, but these generally seem more geared towards cars rather than caravans, motorhomes or statics. Ebay is a good option too, and is where you’ll find a lot of caravans and the like, although they’re not strictly classifieds in the same way.
The Caravan Trade (or Caravan Dealers)
The industry experts and the place where there’s (generally) lots of caravans and motorhomes to buy. They may also be a great place to sell too if they have knowledgeable staff that can guide you through the valuation of your trade-in (if you have one). Club-Based Trades
If you’re a member of a caravan club you can usually post for sale/wanted advert in their club magazine or on a noticeboard within the club. These can be good if you’re say a member of a Bailey owners club and you’re looking to upgrade to a newer model.
Conclusion
As a general rule you’re better off trying to finding/selling your caravan on a website with some sort of national coverage, as opposed to local trades, mainly due to the sheer range of makes and models and number of sellers likely to be in your local area. The likes of eBay, Auto Trader and Gumtree are the most obvious places for people looking for caravans but if you’re selling one there are also classified sections in magazines like Camping World or Caravan Trader.
A final option is something like an Exchange & Mart type magazine that covers the whole country, but these obviously aren’t caravan-specific so you may get mixed results here.
